I've been spending a bunch of time researching running stuff. Trying to figure out the best way to keep going without an injury. What foods to eat, what clothes to wear, how to stay motivated when sometimes it feels IMPOSSIBLE. There are days when I just can't comprehend ever reaching my goals, when I can run for like one whole minute before I have to start walking again.
I wonder if following Weight Watchers, working out at the gym, and running is a good combination, or as effective as I want it to be. I've been also researching good training plans to get the most "bang for my buck" while running. I think I've settled on the C25K (couch to 5k) program, only because they have an app that says "Run... Walk" And it will play right over my music on my headphones so I know exactly when to switch.
It also gives me a lot of motivation to read other blogs of people who started where I am, with barely being able to run for a minute, and are now marathon runners. I have two races that I want to do in May, and one in August that are all 5k a piece. My goal is to be able to actually run the whole 5k, even if I'm slow as molasses doing it!
So far, I've lost 6 lbs and a pant size. I just bought jeans two weeks ago, and they are too big already!! Another problem I've been facing, is the workout capri's that I bought specifically for running are now too big. I can't run in them already because they are falling down off of me and I have to try and hold them up while I'm running. I don't know if you've tried to run while holding onto your pants before, but it's really not so easy. :)
I found a Jawbone Up on ebay for super cheap, brand new in the package. It's not the Garmin I want so badly to time my pace and splits, but it is a good start to get my daily steps and activity and sleep monitoring. It's definitely a step in the right direction.
Through all of this, my husband is being amazing, trying to eat healthier foods as well to support my efforts, and hanging out with our kids all the time while I'm out trying to run, or walk, or woggle or whatever it is I do! He's even come out once with me and says that he will run my first 5k with me to support me. Since his legs are so freaking long, he probably will only have to walk to keep up with my running!
Today I walked with my friend, and while we were out there, there was so many people running, and I got a little discouraged thinking "I could never do that, it seems so impossible.. Maybe I should just stick to walking". But honestly, it's what I want so badly and am so passionate about.. I want to RUN. I'm fat, and I jiggle, but I'm going to run, and it's hard, and it hurts at times.. but I'm going to do it!
